Check your children’s eyes this Easter!

April 9, 2019

Don’t let poor eyesight be a barrier to learning…

The Easter holidays are an ideal opportunity to check your children’s eyes. 1 in 5 school aged children have an undiagnosed vision problem. If the words are blurred how can they read them? Children won’t necessarily know that they could be seeing better, they will assume that this is normal.

Signs that your child may have problems with their vision:

  • Is your child holding the book too close when they read?

  • Do they sit too close to the television?

  • Do they screw up their eyes or frown, or close one eye when they are watching TV or reading?

  • Do they have watery and red eyes?

  • Do they rub their eyes a lot?

  • Do they complain about headaches?

  • Do they struggle to concentrate at school?

Don’t forget sunglasses!

Most ultraviolet (U.V.) damage to the eyes happens before the age of 18. U.V. is harmful and can cause cataracts and age-related macular degeneration in later life. So come and try our children’s sunglasses!
