Blepharitis and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)

There is no MGD or Blepharitis cure. These are both chronic conditions that can be managed with the help of your Optometrist with careful regular, eyelid hygiene. We will do an assessment and then recommend a combination of eye drops, heat treatment, lid scrubs, eye supplements or Blephex Treatment.

 

Blepharitis symptoms:

  • Dry eyelids / itchy eyelids / red eyelids

  • Eyelid inflammation / swollen eyelids

  • Crusty eyelashes / small styes that give irritated eye and itchy eyes

Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) is where the Meibomian Glands along the lid margins become blocked which often means the quality of tears produced is poor.

MGD Symptoms include:

  • Sore eyes / itchy eyes / dry eyes gritty and have a burning sensation
