Free NHS Eye Test Hounslow
Free NHS Eye Care and Eyecare Club Membership

Eye tests are a vital vision and health check which should be part of everyone’s routine health care. They not only help make sure you can see clearly, but also provide an overview of your overall health by showing the early signs of conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure and more.

Eye tests are extremely important during childhood because it means potential problems with vision can be diagnosed early. This improves the chances of successful treatment if needed. Read more in our Signs children need an eye examination blog.

Because eye tests are so important, if you find it difficult to pay for an eye test, glasses or contact lenses, you may be eligible for free NHS Eye Care. NHS help is available for certain groups of people. You must check that you're entitled to free NHS Eye Care help with health costs before signing any declaration stating that you are.

How often can I get a free NHS eye test?

If you are an adult that is entitled to a free NHS eye test, this can be done once every two years or if you feel your vision has changed. Your optician may recommend a more regular test depending on your prescription and eye health. You may also be entitled to an optical voucher to help towards your glasses.

Every child under 16 years is entitled to one free eye test every two years, unless they feel their vision has changed, or more often if recommended by their optician. In addition, they can also get an optical voucher to help pay for their glasses, which means many of our glasses are completely free for children. Simply book your child's appointment with us and at the appointment we will go through the relevant NHS forms with you.

Upgrade to your eye test to include a 3D OCT Scan

You have the chance to upgrade your eye test to include the 3D OCT scan. This gives us a chance to pick up any unwanted changes at the back of the eyes up to 4 years earlier compared to a standard eye test. It can detect general health problems such as high blood pressure and also eye conditions such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
